Title: ADF rebels continue their series of attacks in the Democratic Republic of Congo
Introduction :
In yet another tragic event, rebels from the Democratic Forces and allies, ADF, have carried out a deadly incursion into the Babila Bakwanza chieftaincy in the Democratic Republic of Congo. According to information confirmed by Maître John Vuleverio, Coordinator of the new Congolese civil society in Mambasa, the attack took place on Thursday 13 July. The initial toll reported 12 civilians killed, including 9 north of the village of Elake and 3 in Mangina-Pori, Ituri province.
Development :
According to information provided by local sources, more than 20 other dead bodies of civilians, killed by ADF rebels during their return from clashes against a Maimai self-defense group, have been discovered in Mangina-Pori. This alarming situation highlights the need for the military authorities to strengthen offensive operations against these terrorists.
The province of Ituri, where this recent attack took place, is facing growing insecurity due to the presence of armed groups, in particular the ADF. These rebels, accused of having committed numerous massacres and kidnappings, continue to sow terror in the region. Despite ongoing military operations, the group manages to regularly carry out deadly attacks.
The security situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo remains worrying. Civilians, mostly women and children, continue to pay the heavy price of this armed conflict. It is essential that the authorities take drastic measures to protect the population and put an end to the impunity of the rebel groups.
Conclusion :
Faced with this new deadly attack, it is urgent that the Congolese authorities intensify their efforts to fight against armed groups and guarantee the safety of civilians. Regional and international cooperation is also necessary to eradicate this threat to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and its people. It is time for concrete measures to be taken to put an end to insecurity and allow the country to rebuild itself on solid foundations
