The tragic assassination of Minister Chérubin Okende has shocked the Congolese political class. Following this terrible news, the leader of the Ensemble for the Republic, Moïse Katumbi, decided to interrupt his stay in Côte d’Ivoire to return immediately to the country.
In an interview with Radio France Internationale, Moïse Katumbi described the death of Cherubin Okende as a “political assassination”. He expressed his sadness and anger at this act of violence, saying that the assassination of his collaborator was an attempt to silence him.
The President of the Ensemble pour la République also called for the establishment of independent investigations in order to shed light on the exact circumstances of this assassination and to identify the sponsors. Moïse Katumbi insists that Cherubin Okende was an honest and peaceful man, and that his death cannot remain without consequences. He announces his intention to conduct an independent investigation to restore the truth and bring justice to his missing colleague.
According to some sources, Moïse Katumbi is expected in Kinshasa on the evening of Thursday, July 13. His return to the country will allow him to support his family and his supporters in this difficult period and to advance the investigations into this political assassination which is upsetting the Congolese political scene.
