Visit to the Musienene Special Economic Zone: A promising development for the development of Congolese industry
As part of the operationalization of the Musienene Special Economic Zone (SEZ), the Congolese Minister of Industry, Julien Paluku Kahongya, visited the site on Friday July 14, 2023. The purpose of this visit was to observe the progress of the work and to receive explanations from the developer on the stages already completed.
The visit made it possible to note the good progress of the work, in particular the end of the studies on the development plan, the enlargement of the site and the registration of the companies interested in the installation of their industrial units in the SEZ. The Minister was satisfied with these advances and called on local notables to support these efforts aimed at making the Musienene Special Economic Zone operational.
He underlined the importance of the SEZ in the economic development of the country and reminded that the creation of a special economic zone requires time. He thus evoked the example of the SEZ of Makulu, which started in 2012 and had its first production only in 2023, that is to say 10 years later.
This visit demonstrates the Congolese government’s commitment to the development of industry in the country. The creation of special economic zones makes it possible to encourage investment and stimulate economic growth by attracting national and foreign companies.
The Musienene SEZ is part of this dynamic and offers promising prospects for the development of Congolese industry. Site expansion, business registration and completion of development plan studies are crucial steps to ensure the smooth operation of the SEZ and attract investors.
The Minister of Industry also stressed the importance of collaboration between the government and local actors to ensure the success of the SEZ. This cooperation will make it possible to set up the necessary infrastructures, to facilitate administrative procedures and to support companies in their installation and development within the ZES.
In conclusion, the visit of the Minister of Industry to the site of the Special Economic Zone of Musienene testifies to the positive evolution of the work and the commitment of the Congolese government in favor of the national industry. The creation of this SEZ offers real development opportunities for the country and is an important step towards economic diversification and job creation
