“Genocost 2023: Honoring the victims and mobilizing for a better future after the Congolese genocide”

Commemoration event dedicated to the Congolese Genocide and its impact in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Genocost, will be held on August 2, 2023. This event aims to raise awareness of the devastating consequences of the Genocide on the Congolese people and to inspire action for a better future. .

The Genocost event, organized by CAYP, invites people around the world to join them in reflection, education and solidarity. Throughout the day, the event will be streamed online, allowing a wide audience to participate. Physical rallies will also take place in Paris, Goma and Kinshasa.

This year’s theme, “The Cost of Genocide”, highlights the economic losses, lives lost, communities shattered and the lingering trauma caused by the Congolese genocide. Genocost aims to foster understanding of these consequences and encourage actions to support survivors and rebuild the country.

The event will include an exclusive interview featuring three mining industry experts in the Democratic Republic of Congo. They will share their knowledge and experiences to shed light on the far-reaching impact of the genocide, particularly in the context of the mining sector.

In addition to online activities, physical gatherings will take place in Paris, Goma and Kinshasa. These gatherings will provide an opportunity for participants to come together, pay tribute to the victims and show their support for the survivors.
