The Rap and Slam Festival, “Festiras”, returns for a second edition that promises to be even more grandiose. From July 28 to 29, 2023, thousands of rap and slam lovers will gather at Alfajiri College in Bukavu, South Kivu, to celebrate this oratorical art at the heart of change. Among the artists expected, La Fouine, MPR, Yekima de Bel’Art and many others will ignite the stage and cheer up the public of South Kivu.
La Fouine, star figure of the event, will make his first appearance in this eastern part of the DRC. With a rich repertoire including titles such as “All the same”, “When I leave” or even “My best”, the Franco-Moroccan rapper promises to set fire and thrill the public of Bukavu.
The MPR duo, composed of Yuma Dash and Zozo Machine, is also eagerly awaited by the public. Their anthology works such as “Malembe”, “Lobela ye Français” or even “Semeki” tell the daily life of the average Congolese, with an impertinence and a truth that touch the heart.
Yekima de Bel’Art, nicknamed “Le Poésident”, mixes poetry, Afro-Congolese sounds, RnB and rap to create a unique musical style called AFROSLAM. His songs make the brain, body, heart and soul dance, and he is best known for his hits such as “I present to you Kinshasa” and “Le tour du monde de la Francophonie”.
Other talented artists such as Bolivar Mvulu, of Dutch and Congolese origin, and rapper Afande Ready will also be present during this major cultural event.
The Festiras 2023 aims to mobilize young people around culture and to disseminate messages of civic education, responsible citizenship, the fight against the manipulation of young people and the promotion of social cohesion and living together. In addition to concerts, activities such as guided tours to Kahuzi National Park and dialogues with students, young artists, activists and journalists are planned.
