International Colloquium on Climate Change in the Congo Basin: Experts come together to find sustainable solutions

The International Symposium on Climate Change in the Congo Basin opened Thursday in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. Under the theme “Congo Basin and climate change”, this event brought together many experts and researchers to reflect on possible solutions to the climate changes affecting this region.

During his opening speech, the Deputy Prime Minister of National Defense and Veterans Affairs, Jean-Pierre Bemba, underlined the importance of the role of the Congo Basin in the fight against climate change. He recalled that the effects of global warming are already being felt and that it is urgent to act together and quickly to avoid irreversible damage.

The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that climate change brings unpredictable consequences such as heat waves, cyclones, typhoons and deadly tornadoes. He therefore called on the participants in this symposium to propose concrete solutions to preserve the Congo Basin and avoid environmental disasters.

This international symposium, organized by the College of Advanced Strategies and Defense Studies (CHESD), will be held until Saturday July 15, 2023. It will welcome many speakers who will share their knowledge and research on climate change in the Basin of congo.

It is crucial to be aware of the importance of environmental protection in this region, which is home to one of the largest tropical forests in the world and plays an essential role in regulating the global climate. By finding suitable solutions, it is possible to preserve biodiversity and mitigate the effects of climate change for future generations
