Agricultural training for young people in the Democratic Republic of Congo
As part of the Agenda for Agricultural Transformation of the Democratic Republic of Congo (ATA-DRC) project, fifteen young people from different provinces have recently benefited from training and strategic orientation in the agricultural field. Organized by the African Institute of Agricultural Leadership (AALI), this training took place at the agro-industrial park of Karhongo-Nyangezi, located in the territory of Walungu, in South Kivu.
During this workshop, young people were able to familiarize themselves with various agricultural techniques and technologies, including agricultural education, modernized crop production, animal and fish production, as well as small-scale agricultural mechanization. The objective is to enable them to disseminate this knowledge in their areas of intervention and thus contribute to the acceleration of agricultural transformation in the DRC.
The training was welcomed by the participants, who were able to learn many things and become familiar with the use of modern technologies in the agricultural field. Dr. Emmanuel Sanginga Nteranya, appreciating the efforts of President Félix Tshisekedi to make agriculture a priority, stressed that political will and the involvement of young people were essential for a real agricultural transformation of the country.
This initiative is part of the ATA-DRC, a program aimed at accelerating agricultural transformation by increasing production, creating jobs and contributing to the reduction of food insecurity in the DRC. By training young people in agricultural best practices, the project aims to create a positive impact on the country’s agricultural development.
In conclusion, this agricultural training offers new opportunities for young people in the DRC in the agricultural sector. By strengthening their skills and providing them with the necessary knowledge, they can play a key role in the country’s agricultural transformation. We hope that these initiatives will multiply and help develop a more modern, productive and sustainable agricultural sector in the DRC
