“President Tshisekedi calls for action against the security crisis in eastern DRC at the SADC summit”

The security situation in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is alarming, and President Félix Tshisekedi underlined this urgency during his participation in the extraordinary summit of the Troika of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Southern African Development (SADC). This meeting, held by videoconference, aimed to discuss the modalities for the deployment of SADC troops in this region affected by the conflicts.

Faced with the precarious humanitarian situation in North Kivu, President Tshisekedi insisted on the need to restore order and security, in order to allow the displaced to return to their homes and participate in the upcoming general elections, in accordance with the Congolese Constitution.

President Tshisekedi also called for the effective implementation of the joint roadmap of the Nairobi and Luanda Processes, as well as the Disarmament, Demobilization, Community Recovery and Stabilization Program (PDDRC-S), with the support of the United Nations.
