New appointments in public companies in the Democratic Republic of Congo

The Congolese economic landscape is experiencing significant changes with the recent appointments made by the Head of State Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi. Through a series of presidential orders, new officers have been appointed in several large companies and state establishments in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Within the Bakwanga Mining Company (MIBA), a major player in diamond mining in the Kasai region, Jean-Charles Okoto has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors. He will be assisted by André Kabanda Kana as Managing Director and Kazadi Mabika as Deputy Managing Director.

In the river sector, André Pungwe Songwe takes over the chairmanship of the board of directors of the Régie des Voies Fluviales (RVF). Daniel Lwaboshi and Divine Malumba Kapinga will occupy the positions of general manager and deputy general manager.

The Airway Authority (RVA) sees the arrival of Tryphon Kin-Kiey Mulumba as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Alphonse Shungu Maungu and Dieudonné Kawaya will take up the positions of General Manager and Deputy General Manager respectively.

In the aviation sector, Congo Airways welcomes new officers with the appointment of Jean-Bertrand Ewanga as Chairman of the Board of Directors, Josué Lweya as Managing Director, and Mamitsho Pontshi as Managing Director deputy general.

Other appointments have also been announced for major companies such as the Société Commerciale des Postes et Télécommunications (SCPT), the Cultural Promotion Fund (FPC) and the Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer du Congo (SNCC).

These appointments reflect the desire of the Congolese Head of State to strengthen the governance and management of public enterprises, by placing competent personalities at their head. They reflect a desire to revive the Congolese economy and promote the development of these key sectors.
