The electrification of the Catholic mission of Kilembe, one more step towards access to electricity for all
As part of its ambitious program to ensure access to electricity for all, the National Agency for Electrification and Energy Services in Rural and Suburban Areas (ANSER) has recently taken an important step. Indeed, the Catholic mission of Kilembe, located in rural areas between Kikwit and Tshikapa, about 700 km from Kinshasa, was finally able to access electricity thanks to the installation of a solar power plant with a power of 62 kWp.
This news was celebrated with enthusiasm, especially since the electrification of the Catholic mission of Kilembe coincided with the centenary of this institution. Monsignor José Moko, Bishop of the Diocese of Idiofa, expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, for his commitment in favor of access to electricity for all. He stressed that this electricity would allow students to study in better conditions, thus contributing to the development of the community.
The Catholic mission of Kilembe has the advantage of being easily accessible thanks to its location along the national road and in good condition. However, like many rural localities in the Democratic Republic of Congo, it suffered until then from the lack of access to electricity, as well as difficulties in accessing water. The installation of the solar power plant in Kilembe will therefore make it possible to meet the electrical energy needs of the inhabitants, both for domestic and commercial use, sanitary, administrative and for public lighting. In addition, a solar pump has been installed for water supply and a cassava mill has also been set up to improve the energy services available.
With this new electrification, ANSER continues to realize its ambition to electrify the rural regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The expected positive spin-offs and socio-economic effects will soon be felt, thus offering new development opportunities for the region.
ANSER, associated with the Electricity Sector Regulatory Authority (ARE), plays a crucial role in the application and awareness of the electricity law in the Democratic Republic of Congo. By attracting investment in the electrical energy sector and increasing the rate of access to electricity, it contributes to the development of energy services to support growth in rural and peri-urban areas
