The 2023 Francophonie Games in Kinshasa: Quality medical care with new type A ambulances

The 2023 Francophonie Games are fast approaching and Kinshasa is actively preparing to host this major event. Among the many logistical aspects to be taken into account, the medical care of athletes occupies a primordial place. With this in mind, 16 type A ambulances were recently acquired by the Congolese authorities to ensure quality medical monitoring throughout the ten days of competition.

These type A ambulances are intended for the transport of athletes presenting simple medical cases, not requiring an emergency intervention. At the same time, more equipped type B ambulances will take care of more severe cases, allowing emergency care to be carried out if necessary. As for type C ambulances, they are specially designed for intensive care, being able to accommodate patients in critical condition or even in coma. Finally, type D ambulances are intended to transport more than one patient simultaneously.

The presence of these ambulances meets the requirements of the organization of La Francophonie, which imposes strict standards in terms of medical care during the Games. The DRC is also pleased to have qualified personnel to use these ambulances and ensure the smooth running of competitions in complete safety. Indeed, the health of the athletes is a priority, and the presence of these emergency vehicles makes it possible to deal with any critical situations, such as cardiac arrest, and to intervene quickly to resuscitate the athletes.

However, despite the efforts made by Kinshasa, some French-speaking countries have expressed their concerns about safety and health during this edition of the Games of La Francophonie. Quebec announced its withdrawal, while New Brunswick reduced its delegation. In addition, the Wallonia-Brussels Federation of Belgium has opted for non-participation in sports competitions. These decisions underline the importance of ensuring optimal conditions for all participants, in order to ensure their well-being and safety.

In conclusion, the arrival of Type A ambulances in Kinshasa for the 2023 Francophonie Games demonstrates the DRC’s commitment to providing quality medical care to athletes. However, it is crucial to take into account the concerns of participating countries and to do everything possible to guarantee the safety and well-being of all participants. The success of these Games is based not only on sports performance, but also on the confidence and security offered to French-speaking athletes around the world
