Organ Trafficking in Kinshasa: Government Officials Refute Unfounded Rumors

Organ trafficking in Kinshasa: an unfounded rumour, says government official

The Deputy Minister of Public Health, Hygiene and Prevention in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Doctor Olen Obe Nzem Serge, recently refuted rumors circulating about alleged organ trafficking in Kinshasa. According to him, these allegations are unfounded and not based on any real facts.

In a statement during a joint briefing with his colleagues from Home Affairs and Communications and Media, Dr. Olen explained that organ transplantation is a complex and technologically advanced procedure. He pointed out that Kinshasa does not have the necessary infrastructure or skills to carry out such procedures.

He also indicated that organ transplantation requires a series of preliminary examinations, as well as medical expertise and specific storage conditions. In addition, the harvested organs have a limited lifespan outside the human body, making any organ trafficking operation difficult.

Dr. Olen reassured the public that the government has no interest in covering up such crimes. He encouraged anyone with information about such acts to come forward to allow for a thorough investigation.

This declaration comes in a context of growing insecurity in Kinshasa, marked by an upsurge in kidnappings. Some rumors have accused the alleged bandits and kidnappers of trafficking in human organs.

However, the Minister of Interior, Security and Customary Affairs, Peter Kazadi, also claimed that no official report has been received confirming such acts. He stressed that the security services are fully committed to fighting crime and ensuring the safety of citizens.

It is essential to take the statements of government officials seriously and avoid spreading unfounded rumours. Verification of information is paramount to maintaining public trust and maintaining order in society.

In conclusion, it is important to be wary of rumors and to favor facts and official declarations
