News of the day: Reaction of Martin Fayulu against the decision of the CENI
Today, we are looking at the political news in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the reaction of Martin Fayulu, president of the political party Engaged for Citizenship and Development (ECIDé), following the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) not to organize another external audit of the electoral register, in accordance with the request of the opposition.
In a post on Twitter, Martin Fayulu expresses his outrage at this decision. He accuses the CENI of taking the Congolese for panurge sheep, insinuating that they are being used to perpetrate a new electoral fraud in the DRC. According to him, this decision is erroneous and unjustified.
The CENI plenary justified its refusal by calling the opposition’s proposal “illogical”, arguing that there was no solid justification for a new external audit of the electoral register.
This decision by the CENI follows a request from the opposition, which wanted another audit of the electoral register to be held, in order to guarantee the transparency and integrity of the electoral process in the country.
This controversy once again reveals the political tensions in DR Congo, with differences of opinion on the need for an external audit and on the confidence to be granted to the CENI in the organization of the elections.
It is essential to underline that this decision of the CENI and the reaction of Martin Fayulu only accentuate the political divisions already present in the country, and highlight the need for a constructive dialogue between the various stakeholders to ensure free and fair elections.
Monitoring this situation and subsequent developments is therefore essential for the political future of the DR Congo
