“Launch of modernization works at Kananga airport: a new future for air transport in the DRC!”

Kananga Airport, located in the province of Kasai-Central in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is entering a new phase of modernization with the launch of construction work for a new terminal. This ambitious project was officially launched on July 10 by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Interior, Peter Kazadi.

This work is part of a vast program of development and modernization of airport infrastructure in the DRC, initiated by the central government. This is the third stage of this plan, after the airports of Kolwezi in Lualaba and Mbuji-Mayi in Kasaï-Oriental.

The construction of this new terminal is entrusted to the company Moderne Construction and represents an investment of 32,594,423 million US dollars for an expected duration of two years, or 683 days. The area covered by these works will reach 7,600 square meters.

The objective of this project is to meet international standards and requirements in terms of safety and comfort for passengers. The terminal will be equipped with modern technologies and will provide a pleasant experience for travellers. This is an important step in the development of Kananga airport, which will help boost the economic development of Kasai-Central and the Democratic Republic of Congo as a whole.

Peter Kazadi, during the laying of the first stone, called on the population of Kasaï-central to feel involved in this project initiated by President Félix Tshisekedi. He underlined the importance of this infrastructure to stimulate the development of the region and the country.

With this new terminal, Kananga airport is positioning itself as a major hub for air transport in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It will offer a modern infrastructure adapted to the needs of passengers, thus helping to strengthen trade and tourism in the region.

The work in progress is therefore a real development opportunity for Kasaï-Central and marks a significant step forward in the modernization of the country’s airport infrastructure. The Democratic Republic of the Congo thus continues its path towards a modern and prosperous future, where transport infrastructure plays a key role in the economic and social development of the country
