The construction of a new modern terminal at Kananga Airport has been launched, marking a new stage in the development of airport infrastructure in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Under the supervision of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Interior, Peter Kazadi, work has started with the laying of the first stone.
This project is part of the central government’s policy to modernize the country’s airports and support economic development. After the work carried out in Kolwezi in the province of Lualaba and in Mbuji-Mayi in Kasai-Oriental, Kananga is now one of the priority sites for the modernization of airport infrastructure.
The total cost of the work is US$32,594,423 million and is expected to be completed within two years, or 683 days. The new terminal should cover an area of 7,600 square meters, thus meeting international standards in terms of safety and comfort for passengers.
Execution of the work was entrusted to the company Moderne Construction, renowned for its expertise in the field of airport infrastructure construction. This new terminal will improve the traveler experience by offering modern and efficient facilities.
Deputy Prime Minister Peter Kazadi called on the people of Kasai-Central to support and take ownership of this project, stressing its importance for the economic development of the region and the Democratic Republic of Congo as a whole.
With the construction of this new terminal in Kananga, the DRC continues to make progress in modernizing its airport infrastructure, which will help strengthen the air transport sector and promote trade and tourism with the rest of the world
