The DRC is preparing for its 4th electoral cycle: rationalization of government actions and prioritization of actions with real impact

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is about to experience a crucial moment with the approach of its 4th electoral cycle scheduled for December this year. During the 103rd meeting of the Council of Ministers, the President of the Republic Félix Tshisekedi stressed the importance of rationalizing government actions for the second half of 2023.

In this context, he recalled the instruction given to members of the government at the 92nd meeting of the Council of Ministers, enjoining them to internalize the government’s action program and to prioritize actions having a real impact on the life of the population. This approach aims to make the actions of the government clearer and more readable for everyone.

President Tshisekedi also asked Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde to present a consolidated government roadmap, taking into account the cash flow plan for the relevant period.

It is important to remember that the current government team, led by Prime Minister Lukonde, is the fruit of a new coalition formed by President Tshisekedi after the breakup of the FCC-CACH coalition which linked him to former President Joseph Kabila.

Nearly two years after his installation, President Tshisekedi carried out, at the beginning of the year, a technical reorganization of the government with the appointment of new ministers, including Vital Kamerhe at the Ministry of National Economy and Jean-Pierre Bemba at the Department of National Defense and Veterans Affairs.

These adjustments are aimed at strengthening government action and responding to the challenges facing the country, particularly in terms of economic development, security and the protection of fundamental rights.

Through these measures, President Tshisekedi demonstrates his desire to implement a clear and coherent government action program, focused on the needs of the Congolese population. The goal is to transform the DRC into a country that is more prosperous, safer and offers better prospects for all its citizens.

It remains to be seen how these instructions will be put into practice and what concrete results will be achieved. The 4th electoral cycle in December will be a watershed moment for the DRC, and government actions will have a significant impact on the future of the country and its people.

In conclusion, streamlining government actions and prioritizing actions with real impact are among President Tshisekedi’s major concerns as he prepares for the 4th cycle election in the DRC
