They crossed the Congo River before taking a bus that traveled all over Congo Brazzaville to the Cameroonian border. Despite the risks and difficulties, their commitment as representatives of the DRC has motivated them to surpass themselves.

Ngumba Ibn shone throughout the tournament. After successfully passing the group stages, he faced the best players in the competition. In the round of 16, he eliminated the Gabonese Ilagou Schelick, double vice-world scrabble champion. In the quarters and semi-finals, he defeated two other talented Gabonese players, Beyeme and Kakou Toyo. In the final, it was against the Chadian champion Iram Rilengar Maxime that Ibn Ngumba won the victory, thus securing the title of African champion.
