The Trade Union Confederation of Congo (CSC) wins the union elections at the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) for the eighth consecutive edition. The election, which took place on June 7 in Kinshasa, made it possible to designate the trade union organizations which will represent the workers with the administration of the CNSS.

The CSC obtained 198 votes, giving it 3 seats within the organization. It is followed by the National Union of Workers of Congo (UNTC) with 139 votes and 2 seats, the Nouvelle Dynamique Syndicale (NDS) with 92 votes and 1 seat, the Democratic Confederation of Labor (CDT) with 78 votes and 1 seat , the Workers’ Alliance of Congo (ATC) with 63 votes and 1 seat, and finally the Trade Union of Free Workers (STL) with 51 votes and 1 seat.

According to the president of the CSC, Onautshu Osokonda, the main objective is to defend the rights and interests of the workers of the CNSS before the decision-making bodies. By winning these elections, the CSC will have a strong voice to advocate for employee benefits and interests.

In total, twenty trade union organizations were running in these elections. They will play a key role in defending the rights of CNSS workers during the mandate which will run from 2023 to 2026.

The CNSS, created in 1961 in Kinshasa, is a public institution of the DRC government responsible for organizing social security in the country. Through these trade union elections, it will be possible to strengthen the representativeness of workers and ensure that their voices are heard in the management of the company.

This victory of the CSC in the union elections is an important step in the promotion of workers’ rights and in the fight for better working conditions at the CNSS. It testifies to the commitment of Congolese trade unions to defend the interests of the working class and to fight for better social justice.

In conclusion, the trade union elections at the CNSS allowed the CSC to win another victory, thus strengthening its position as the representative of the workers. This opens new perspectives for the defense of workers’ rights and for the improvement of working conditions within the institution. It now remains to put in place concrete actions to assert the demands of workers and to guarantee better social protection for all
