“The Trade Union Confederation of Congo wins the union elections at the National Social Security Fund, a victory for Congolese workers!”

The Trade Union Confederation of Congo (CSC) wins the union elections at the National Social Security Fund

The eighth edition of union elections at the Caisse Nationale de Sécurité Sociale (CNSS) ended on Friday 7 June in Kinshasa, with the victory of the Confederation Syndicale du Congo (CSC). After a tight ballot, the CSC won 198 votes, thus obtaining 3 seats within the administration of the CNSS.

This victory allows the CSC to represent the workers of the CNSS before the administration and to defend their interests. Onautshu Osokonda, president of the CSC, said that the main objective of their organization would be to make the voice of the workers loud and clear to the leaders of the company.

In total, twenty trade union organizations were running in these elections. The elected trade union organizations will have a term of office ranging from 2023 to 2026, and will be responsible for advocating for the benefits and interests of CNSS staff.

The National Social Security Fund, created in 1961 in Kinshasa, is the public institution of the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo responsible for the organization of social security in the country.

These trade union elections mark an important step in the representation of workers within the CNSS and in the defense of their rights. The victory of the CSC testifies to the confidence granted to this organization to defend the interests of the workers and to promote a better quality of life within the company. We hope that this new team will be able to bring significant improvements for CNSS workers and contribute to the development of social security in the Democratic Republic of Congo
