The Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa: a security challenge that does not discourage the participation of French-speaking countries

The Jeux de la Francophonie, a major event bringing together French-speaking countries, will be held from July 28 to August 6 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. However, the director of the national committee of these games, Isidore Kwandja, expressed his surprise at the withdrawal of some countries which had initially planned to participate.

These withdrawals were motivated by safety, health and infrastructure concerns. However, Isidore Kwandja assures that the Congolese government has taken these concerns into account and has given all the necessary guarantees to the participating countries. In particular, he recalled having received delegations from Canada and Switzerland, which had expressed their concerns and obtained satisfactory responses.

Despite these withdrawals, Isidore Kwandja wishes to point out that many other French-speaking countries have confirmed their participation in the Games of La Francophonie. He mentions in particular the presence of New Brunswick, Switzerland and France. He takes note of the sovereign decisions of the States, but remains surprised by these late renunciations.

These Francophone Games will be an opportunity for Francophone athletes and artists to meet, compete and share their culture. Despite the difficulties encountered, the Congolese government and the organizing committee are doing everything possible to ensure the smooth running of the event.

It is hoped that the Jeux de la Francophonie in Kinshasa will be a success, providing an international showcase for the Democratic Republic of Congo and strengthening ties between French-speaking countries
