The Trade Union Confederation of Congo (CSC) wins the CNSS union elections
The eighth edition of the union elections of the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) in the Democratic Republic of Congo took place on Friday, June 7 in Kinshasa. And it was the Confederation Syndicale du Congo (CSC) that won the victory in this competition.
Throughout the national territory, the CSC obtained 198 votes, thus allowing it to win 3 seats within the administration of the CNSS. The National Union of Workers of Congo (UNTC) comes second with 139 votes and 2 seats. The Nouvelle Dynamique Syndicale (NDS) obtained 92 votes and 1 seat, followed by the Democratic Confederation of Labor (CDT) with 78 votes and 1 seat. The Alliance des Travailleurs du Congo (ATC) and the Syndicat des Travailleurs Libres (STL) also won 1 seat each, with 63 votes and 51 votes respectively.
According to Onautshu Osokonda, president of the CSC, the main objective of their victory is to “raise the voice of the workers of the CNSS to those who govern and manage this company”. He also emphasizes that the trade union is committed to defending the benefits and interests of CNSS staff.
In total, twenty trade union organizations were selected for these elections. They will occupy positions within the CNSS for a term ranging from 2023 to 2026.
Created in 1961 in Kinshasa, the National Social Security Fund is a public institution of the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is responsible for organizing social security in the country.
This victory of the CSC in the CNSS trade union elections testifies to the importance of social dialogue and the representativeness of workers in the management of companies. It also opens new perspectives for improving the working conditions and rights of CNSS employees
