The question of Rwanda’s support for the M23 terrorist movement is once again at the heart of the meeting of the United Nations Security Council. The United States condemned this attitude by Rwanda, calling on other members of the Council to pressure the Rwandan government to immediately stop supporting the M23. However, the US has also expressed concern over the collaboration of the DRC armed forces with non-state armed groups in the East.
The regional crisis requires solutions that address the root causes of conflict. Mediation efforts led by Angola, Kenya and the East African Community have been welcomed by the United States, which calls on them to coordinate and conflict their operations with MONUSCO.
In this context, MONUSCO must fulfill its mandate to protect civilians and help the DRC government to strengthen key institutions of governance, justice and security. The United States is committed to supporting these efforts to help the people of the DRC find peace.
Apart from this question, several articles have also been published on the “Fatshimetry” blog. The latest articles have covered various topics such as the alarming health situation in the DRC, the fight against malaria in schools in the TFM concession, the worrying situation in eastern DRC, the tribute to Congolese rumba at FESPAM 2022, the 2023 state exam or the participation of Delly Sesanga’s Envol party in the December elections in the DRC.
In short, the political, economic and social situation in the DRC is often complex and requires precise and regular analysis to understand the issues.
