In the Democratic Republic of Congo, the elections of next December are fast approaching. While some opposition parties have decided to boycott these elections, others such as Delly Sesanga’s Envol party have announced their participation. It was during a popular meeting that Me Nicolas Lenga, Deputy Secretary General of Envol confirmed that the party was going to submit candidacies at all levels for the December 2023 elections.
However, Delly Sesanga and his party have no intention of silencing their demands. They will continue to demand a credible and transparent electoral process to avoid any risk of fraud.
In addition, Delly Sesanga has launched a national tour on the reconstruction of the Congo to fight against bad governance and put the DRC on the path of organizing and structuring its action around this vision.
During this same meeting, the 4 opposition leaders present denounced the high cost of living, the fluctuating exchange rate as well as the electoral process which they described as “chaotic”. They also pointed to the “dictatorship” established by the power of Tshisekedi, which muzzles freedom of expression and freedom of movement of the opposition.
Despite the criticism and tensions surrounding these elections, some political parties believe it is important to participate in order to make their voices heard and defend their vision of the future of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
