The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) in the Democratic Republic of Congo is planning meetings with political leaders, including those of the opposition, to examine realistic solutions for a more inclusive electoral process. During the convocation of the electorate for the national legislative elections, Dénis Kadima Kazadi, spokesman of the CENI reassured the public that the members of the CENI are animated by good faith and a great ethics as regards the holding of transparent and trustworthy elections.
The CENI undertakes to put into practice the various recommendations made during the external audit of the electoral register. However, some political opposition and civil society persist in challenging the current CENI leader’s approach to the ongoing electoral process, including Martin Fayulu, Moise Katumbi, Delly Sesanga, and Augustin Matata. These political leaders multiply actions against power, uniting their ideas and their strength for a possible change. This opposition force calls for resistance and exercises citizen vigilance.
The objective is to bring to a successful conclusion the struggle of the Congolese people for a true rule of law. This opposition force also appeals to civil society and announces a series of actions aimed at achieving their demands. In short, despite the pressure they are absorbing, the CENI continues its work for the organization of these transparent and fraud-free elections.
