Anaclet Kabeya, the national deputy of Sakania, was welcomed as a hero by his voters this Thursday, June 22, 2023 upon his arrival in his territory. He took the opportunity to discuss with them and thank the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, for the achievements in the province of Haut-Katanga. Anaclet Kabeya underlines in particular the construction of the 120 km long national road N°1, from the Sec port to Lukangaba, the creation of the Lonshi Mining company, the supply of drinking water, the launch of the administrative construction program of the 145 territories, the ongoing construction of a new customs building and a new corridor in Kasumbalesa.
At the end of the speech, Anaclet Kabeya called for the fight against tribalism to be a priority for the reconstruction of Sakania and invited the inhabitants to mobilize to grant a second term to Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi in December 2023.
Beyond the achievements made, it is important to emphasize that Anaclet Kabeya is an elected member of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS), the ruling party of Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo. It seems obvious that his speech therefore aims to support the re-election of the latter, by calling for mobilization against tribalism. This concern is to be noted in a context of persistent community and ethnic tensions in certain regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo, particularly in the neighboring province of Tanganyika.
It should also be noted that the announcement of Martin Fayulu’s candidacy for the presidential elections of December 2023 arouses many reactions, in particular that of the opposition which, during its last meeting, called for an end to electoral fraud. and to a profound refoundation of the country. It is also important to mention that security remains a major concern in certain regions such as Butembo, where reinforcements must be deployed to protect the population, or in Kwamouth where voter registration has been postponed for security reasons.
However, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi’s recent visit to Kananga and Mbuji-Mayi revealed the President’s commitment to the development of the DRC, with the launch of erosion control works financed by the World Bank to $100 million. The Catholic bishops, meanwhile, expressed their deep concern over the insecurity in the country during the 60th plenary assembly of the Cenco, calling for the vigilance of the Congolese people in the face of the elections and the socio-pastoral situation of the country. .
Finally, it should be noted that the Ugandan government plans to dialogue with ADF terrorists to end the violence in the DRC and Uganda. This announcement underlines the importance of cooperation between neighboring countries to guarantee security in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In short, it seems that the situation in the DRC is still complex and marked by important political, electoral and security issues that require great attention and mobilization of all actors. Thus, the question of the re-election of Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi remains central, as does that of the fight against tribalism and security in certain regions of the country.
