The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has just had a working session between the Director General of the Subcontracting Regulatory Authority and the heads of the nation’s telecommunications companies, in particular Vodacom, Airtel, Africell, Orange, Microcom and ISPA. Following their meeting, the telecommunications companies made a commitment to support the ARSP’s control mission to enforce the rules of subcontracting.
During this session, the head of the corporation of telecommunications companies stressed the importance of the vision of the Head of State which highlights the creation of the Congolese middle class through the law on subcontracting. Telecommunications companies have affirmed their support for this vision for the emergence of the middle class, which will lead to emulation of the whole of Congolese society and therefore of all their consumers.
These companies have also expressed their openness to the control mission which will take place in a harmonious framework and in good collaboration. For three weeks now, the director general of the ARSP has launched a control in all sectors of the national economy to enforce the rules of subcontracting.
This meeting demonstrates the importance of collaboration between companies and institutions for the establishment of fair and sustainable business practices. It thus makes it possible to guarantee the rights of workers and the protection of their dignity as well as the equitable distribution of wealth.
It should be noted that the telecommunications companies have made a salutary commitment which goes in the direction of the realization of the vision of the Congolese head of state. This gesture is to be welcomed because it strengthens trust between companies and public institutions, thus promoting the reign of good governance in the sector.
