Nyangezi Health Zone, located in Walungu, South Kivu, launched a new measles vaccination campaign on May 24, 2023. The objective is to cover the entire population and prevent epidemics that have been recorded in other health zones. The zone head doctor, Olivier Kabarati Amani, urged parents to bring their children to be vaccinated and the community relays were responsible for sensitizing the community to this action. The leader of the Karhongo/Nyangezi group, Pascal Cishugi Lungerie Nyangezi, encouraged parents to have their children vaccinated.
The health zone of Nyangezi, which has 12 health areas that extend into the groupements of Karhongo, Kamanyola, Kamisimbi and Lurhala, underlined the importance of vaccination against measles and poliomyelitis. The zone head doctor recalled that the vaccination curve in the Nyangezi health zone was constantly progressing.
