The African Cup Winners’ Cup finals took place in Luanda, between Angolan teams Primeiro Do Agosto and Petro Atletico. Unfortunately for the captain of Leopards Dames of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Christiane Mwasesa Mwange, and her team, victory was once again beyond their reach, with a second place finish for the third consecutive year.
Despite reaching the semi-finals last season, the Jeunesse Sportive de Kinshasa was decimated this year by a reduced squad, which relegated them to the ranking matches.
It is clear that the Congolese teams must work hard to catch up with the competition, not only in the competition but also on the local scene.
In other news from the DRC, the security situation is deteriorating, causing the displacement of more than 202,000 people. Political decisions also have their share of controversy, with the provision of a deputy who questions his presence on the list of unjustified absences in the Congolese National Assembly.
However, positive projects continue to emerge, such as the special economic zone of Musienene, which is attracting the attention of the government and the reform of maternity leave in the DRC for equal treatment of employed women.
It is therefore important to follow the news of the DRC closely, knowing that some projects are exemplary for the development of the country, while others are encountering difficulties.
