The rehabilitation of the Mbuji-Mayi-Mwene-Ditu road in the Democratic Republic of Congo has been entrusted to the Chinese company CREC 7. According to the latest information from the Congolese Agency for Major Works (ACGT), the road should be service before December 2023. This announcement was made by Gilbert Kapuku, provincial director of Espace Kasaï of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works (ITP), during an inspection visit at the end of April.
The road, which has been degraded for some time, has begun to be widened and upgraded since work started in January 2023. Although the population has expressed dissatisfaction with the traffic difficulties caused by the ongoing works, government officials have argued that the project is progressing at a satisfactory pace.
In addition to the road rehabilitation, the government has also planned the construction of social infrastructure, such as a school and a borehole, as part of the National Road No. 1 modernization project. presence of quagmires on the road, the government is firmly determined to carry out the works within the stipulated time, so that the population can benefit from the advantages linked to the modernization of the road.
