“The DRC in the grip of turbulence: a look back at the country’s significant news”

The news in the Democratic Republic of Congo is marked by a series of events that affect each region of the country. President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi renews his confidence in the Community of East African States (EAC). According to him, the accession of the DRC to this sub-regional organization will facilitate cross-border trade and benefit Congolese living in the eastern part of the country.

However, the Congolese Head of State did not fail to point out that the current aggression of the DRC by Rwanda is a conjunctural situation created by the dignitaries of the regime currently in power in this country. While keeping the hope of one day seeing Rwanda be led by a non-belligerent president who will maintain peaceful relations of good neighborliness with the DRC.

Upon returning from his stay in Botswana, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi chaired the Business Forum with his Botswana counterpart, Mokgweetsi Masisi. The visit of the Congolese President to SADC headquarters and the Jwaneng mine will have enabled the consolidation of economic partnerships.

In the province of North Kivu, the DRC is preparing to welcome the SADC force and is raising questions among the population. The strengthening of security in the Kwango region will help to regain control in the face of the violent conflicts that are raging.

The deadly floods in the South Kivu region have sparked a call for help for the victims, while other regions of the country are organizing demonstrations to denounce urban insecurity, such as in Beni.

Mining fraud is also at the center of international concerns, during the Forum on responsible mineral supply chains of the OECD, the DRC expressed its wish to fight against terrorism and looting in the province of Maï Ndombe.
