The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo has just adopted six bills for the ratification of credits signed between the DRC and international donors. These texts were presented by O’Neige N’Sele, Deputy Minister of Finance, during the 98th meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Friday, May 12, 2023, under the leadership of Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde Kyenge.
Among the six bills, we can cite the loan agreement concluded between the Democratic Republic of Congo, the African Development Bank and the African Development Fund, under emergency food production projects with financing of 13 million USD.
There is also the ratification of the credit agreement concluded between the DRC and the French Development Agency which will allow the financing of the empowerment project by promoting agricultural and rural entrepreneurship sensitive to inclusive and resilient nutrition to come. .
The debt ratio of the Democratic Republic of Congo is around 17% of GDP, which makes this country one of the least indebted in the world. According to the Minister of Finance, Nicolas Kazadi, this improvement in the collaboration between the DRC and its financial partners is due to the arrival of the current Head of State at the head of the country.
In short, these bills for the ratification of credits signed between the DRC and international donors strengthen investments in agricultural empowerment projects, food production, urban electrification and inclusive and resilient rural development. This shows the willingness of the Congolese government to work with its international partners to promote the economic and social development of the country.
