Rwanda, assassin without borders: the book that turns the reality on Kagame’s regime upside down

The presentation of the book “Rwanda, assassin sans frontières” by the English journalist Michela Wrong took place at the University of Kinshasa. This event was organized by the UNIKIN Student Coordination and the Legal Café. During her speech, Michela Wrong pointed out that her book was motivated by the death of Patrick Karegeya in South Africa, commissioned by Paul Kagame.

The main character is Patrick Karegeya, a pillar of the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), the party in power since the end of this civil war which was marked by the genocide of the Tutsis in 1994. He was a real character, funny and formidable clever. He was fond of journalists, who returned the favor to him.

Michela Wrong also revealed that her book shook the lines across her work as views on Kagame’s regime are divided. The latter has sold the world a beautiful image of Rwanda on all fronts. However, freedom does not exist there, the elections are rigged and the country benefits from the support of Europe.

The presentation of the book sparked a heated debate between the students and Michela Wrong. She appreciated their support and their interest in her book, which fell like a hair on the soup in Europe in general and in her country in particular. The organizers, for their part, expressed their satisfaction with this activity. They are open to current issues to support the Congolese authorities on security and peace issues in the east of the country.

In short, the presentation of Michela Wrong’s book was an opportunity for students from the University of Kinshasa to discuss the challenges facing African countries. Through her book, the English journalist has succeeded in upsetting lines and breaking down masks, revealing the reality of the Kagame regime.
