“The world of Congolese showbiz in mourning: tribute to Samy Mikobi, the Strategist”

Well, there is sad news in the world of Congolese showbiz. Samy Mikobi, nicknamed “The Strategist”, died late in the evening of May 11. His death left all who knew him in shock and grief.

A well-known figure in Bandal, Samy Mikobi was a public man and friend of musicians. He was also known for his acceptance and his ability to evolve in influential circles and to play with his relationships. He thus had a rich relational network that opened doors, made connections and consolidated his reputation.

Originally from the commune of Bandalungwa, Samy Mikobi studied at the Athénée de Kalina, where the beginnings of what he was going to be in the future began to take shape.

I personally remember having known him in the 80s in the youth circles of Ma Campagne, in particular with the Rodall Dambana. I had the privilege of becoming his brother-in-law and rubbing shoulders with him at many events and gatherings.

Samy Mikobi has left his mark in many companies, notably at ACEC, the Belgian electricity company for which he worked as a representative in the former Zaire. Since 1990, he worked with the Rodalls in a structure whose center of interest is customs, named Socodam and housed in the building of the ACP (Congolese Press Agency).

Faithful in friendship, Samy Mikobi was in the backyard of the Honorary Prime Minister and current Vice-President of the Senate, Samy Badibanga. He was also very close to Papa Wemba, their friendship dating back years and Papa Wemba often frequented his apartment across from the Boboto college stadium.

His professional life is punctuated with great feats of arms and he was always available to help. Her slim, well-filed waist in no way represented her efficiency and ability to succeed with any business.

Now that he is gone, Samy Mikobi will surely be missed by all who knew him and with whom he worked. Rest in Peace, The Strategist
