“Security situation in eastern DRC: a worrying inventory and criticism of the EAC regional force”

The security situation in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo is worrying. The government has called on the regional force of the Community of East African States (EAC) to act against the armed groups present in the region, in particular the M23. However, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Christophe Lutundula Apala, criticized the record of this regional force during a press conference, saying that it had failed and had not produced the expected results.

The DRC expects from the regional force an application of the offensive mandate defined by the various agreements signed in Angola and Kenya. The Congolese government has also denounced the fact that in certain areas, the M23 coexists with the regional force. The EAC has until June to accomplish its mission and Kinshasa hopes for more concrete results.

Faced with this situation, various articles have been published on Fatshimètre’s blog to discuss the security crisis in eastern DRC and the challenges of finding a lasting political solution. Other subjects such as the prevention of natural disasters, the tensions within the UNC, the collective dismissal at the direction of the communication of the presidency of the Republic, the private life of Congolese citizens or the external audit of the file election have been dealt with.

It is important to emphasize that the regular publication of articles on these different subjects contributes to improving the SEO of the blog, while providing a complete and relevant analysis of current events in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
