“EDUCIEL calls for a consensus for the audit of the electoral register in the DRC”

One cannot deny the importance of the transparency and credibility of elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Me Carlos Mupili, the coordinator of the commission for civic education and electoral observation (EDUCIEL), today called on the electoral commission to seek consensus for the audit of the electoral register.

Me Carlos Mupili invites the electoral administration not to be judge and judged, and to adopt a consensual approach to solve the problems of the population which has the right to vote, but which is not yet registered on the electoral list. According to him, the electoral file must face the challenge provided for in the electoral calendar.

In its statement, EDUCIEL rejected the pretexts of the CENI relating to national sovereignty and the protection of personal data, because the infrastructure and operations of the electoral administration are carried out in collaboration with South Korean technicians. In this appeal, we thus find the need to remove all political options to settle the case of Congolese not yet enlisted in areas of armed conflict such as the territories of Masisi and Rutshuru as well as geographical areas having lost data through machines. broken-down.

EDUCIEL brings together nearly 30 thematic networks at the permanent secretariat level and more than 300 NGOs at the plenary level. This shows the importance of this initiative to guarantee the right to vote to the Congolese and to promote transparency in the electoral process.

This reminder is very useful to support the democratic development of the DRC and ensure a free and democratic future for future generations.
