In Beni, in the province of North Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Congolese National Police presented Friday, May 12, 22 suspected bandits to the local media. These individuals were arrested during operations carried out by the security forces to dismantle groups of assailants.
Nasson Murara, communicator for the PNC urban police station in Beni, said that among these alleged bandits are three women and two men were arrested in Butembo.
Despite the state of siege in force in the region, the city of Beni continues to face a very high rate of banditry. The Congolese National Police therefore calls for closer collaboration with the population in order to put an end to this cycle of crime.
This kind of situation is unfortunately widespread in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where security is often compromised, especially during elections.
