“The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo and his Botswana counterpart sign an economic partnership to promote investment and job creation”

The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Felix Tshisekedi, accompanied by his counterpart from Botswana, Mokgweetsi Masisi, participated in an economic forum on May 11, 2023. During this event, entrepreneurs from both countries were able to sign an important partnership aimed at encourage the reciprocal promotion of investments.

This collaboration between the Botswana Investment and Trade Center and the National Agency for the Promotion of Investments of the DRC (ANAPI) aims to create a collaborative framework to encourage investment, create jobs and improve the standard of living of the people.

President Felix Tshisekedi has called on Botswana economic operators to invest massively in the DRC and to establish mutually beneficial partnerships with Congolese companies.

To stimulate economic growth and encourage investment, the Head of State has created optimal conditions for the development of his country. An appropriate legal framework has been put in place to allow investors to safely place their capital in the DRC.

Felix Tshisekedi’s vision for the Democratic Republic of Congo is to transform raw materials directly on site to build a strong, prosperous and robust economy. Sectors with high growth potential such as Mining, Hydrocarbons, and Metallurgy, as well as those with high employment potential such as forestry, subsistence agriculture and agro-industry are considered as key productive sectors that contribute to the development of the Congolese economy.

The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo has been instructed through ANAPI to organize an economic mission as soon as possible in order to facilitate trade relations and strengthen economic cooperation between the companies of the two countries.

Felix Tshisekedi’s visit to Botswana is part of the new dynamic of intensifying relations at all levels between the two countries
