The province of Sankuru, located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, recently experienced an important decision-making within the framework of the State Examination, edition 2022-2023. Indeed, as part of this out-of-session phase, the participation costs of female student candidates were borne by Governor Jules Lodi Emongo. This decision was put in place to help young girls in this region. Indeed, they were victims of a landslide accident in the construction site of the Office of Roads and Drainage (OVD) to seek money for their school fees.
Thanks to this initiative, the finalist girls registered in all the examination centers located in the capital of Sankuru benefited from the payment of the participation costs. The parents of students expressed their gratitude to the governor for this policy in favor of the school communities in this province.
This decision is part of the social actions undertaken in memory of the victims of this landslide accident. This support of participation fees also aims to encourage more girls to continue their education. Indeed, the education of young girls is a major issue in many regions of Africa.
This decision is therefore a significant step forward for the education of young girls in this region of the Democratic Republic of Congo. It shows the will of the provincial authorities to support the education of young girls, despite the difficulties encountered in this province. These initiatives must be encouraged and supported, because the education of girls is essential for the development of these regions and for the future of the whole community.
