Police have arrested the head of a savings and credit cooperative accused of embezzling money from more than 1,000 people in the town of Bandundu. The suspect had fled in March with the savers’ money but was arrested in Kenge. This arrest highlights the need to better regulate the practices of savings and credit cooperatives to protect savers and prevent misappropriation in the future.
Deputy Daniel-Israel Mbau has tabled a bill aimed at modifying the family code in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
