According to a recent United Nations report, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is experiencing an alarming spike in human rights violations. The report highlights a 16% increase in violations compared to the previous month, with the right to life being the most affected. Extrajudicial and summary executions increased by 23%, with 313 victims recorded, including men, women and children. State agents are responsible for 36% of these violations, while armed groups are responsible for 64%. The Congolese authorities have taken steps to fight impunity, but it is essential to strengthen these efforts to ensure that those responsible for these violations are held to account. The protection of human rights is crucial for the stability and sustainable development of the DRC.
