In the Beni region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, joint FARDC-UPDF forces have been engaged in heavy fighting against ADF rebels since 31 July. Two rebel leaders were eliminated in these clashes, but the situation remains unstable and civilians face serious security risks. Thousands of people have been displaced and humanitarian efforts are being made to meet their urgent needs. A comprehensive approach, combining security, human rights protection and socio-economic development, is needed to resolve the crisis in the Beni region.
