**Equity and Humanitarian Momentum: Towards Universal Health Coverage in the DRC**
On January 7, 2023, the Democratic Republic of Congo marked a turning point in its journey towards universal health coverage with the receipt of medical equipment donated by the NGO Projet Cure. This initiative, which aims to address the serious deficits in the health system exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, responds to an urgent need for transformation within Congolese health facilities.
Faced with major challenges such as health insecurity affecting more than half of the population, the support provided by the National Fund for Promotion and Social Service (FNPSS) and Alice Mirimo Kabetsi is not limited to a material donation. It embodies a call for the commitment of local and international actors to reform the health sector. The logistics of distributing the equipment, designed to cover both urban and rural areas, aims to reduce inequalities in access to care.
However, for this humanitarian surge to be truly effective, it is essential to accompany the provision of equipment with adequate training for health professionals and awareness-raising initiatives in communities. The road to equitable and universal health in the DRC is still long, but every step counts: the health future of millions of Congolese people depends on it. It is crucial that all actors join forces to build a sustainable and inclusive health system, today and for generations to come.
