Fatshimetrie: First case of mpox reported in Kosovo
Kosovo has officially confirmed its first case of mpox, health authorities announced on Friday, identifying the patient as a 30-year-old man who had recently returned from a West African country.
The patient was hospitalized on December 24 after developing fever, chills and skin changes on his face and hands, according to the Kosovo Institute of Public Health. The patient’s condition is stable, the institute added in a statement.
Authorities have identified and monitored all people who had contact with the patient, and have issued recommendations on infection prevention and control measures.
Since August, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the mpox outbreak a public health emergency, following the spread of the virus from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to neighboring regions.
MPOX, usually a mild viral infection, presents with symptoms such as fever, headache and skin lesions. Although serious cases are rare, health authorities stress the importance of vigilance to prevent further transmission.
It is essential that the population remains informed and follows precautionary measures to limit the spread of COPD. By closely following the advice of health authorities and remaining vigilant about symptoms, we can help contain this outbreak and protect our community.
Let us remain united in this fight against COPD, by demonstrating solidarity and individual responsibility. Together, we can overcome the challenges of this situation and ensure the health and well-being of all.
