Israel continues its large-scale violence on Tuesday in the occupied territories, a difficult and worrying reality. According to UNRWA, a child is killed every hour in Gaza, resulting in an alarming and unsustainable humanitarian situation.
The siege of hospitals continues, while the government media office in Gaza revealed that Israel is appropriating humanitarian aid to the detriment of Palestinian civilians and even attacking Gaza security forces, thus compromising the population’s access to vital resources.
UNRWA revealed shocking figures, reporting that 14,500 children have lost their lives in Gaza, innocent lives taken without any valid justification. There is an urgent need to put an end to this violence and work to protect Palestinian children and civilians.
For its part, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) reported that up to 15,600 Palestinians, including 1,500 children, need to be evacuated from Gaza to receive medical care not available in the Gaza Strip. The growing number of children requiring evacuation highlights the urgency of the situation, underscoring the dire need for continued access to health care for at-risk populations.
The recent acknowledgement by Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz of the assassination of former Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Iran marks a major turning point. This admission reveals Israel’s direct involvement in acts of violence and repression outside its borders, provoking international condemnation and concern.
Diaa Helmy, member of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs, stressed that this Israeli announcement constitutes a blatant challenge to the international community, highlighting the threats and warnings issued against Iran and its allies. A violation of the sovereignty of a state and an unjustifiable act of violence that requires a firm response from the international community.
In a context of recurrent violence and confrontations, it is imperative to promote dialogue and mediation to establish lasting peace in the region. The human losses and suffering inflicted on the populations must be at the heart of the concerns of the international community, which must act proactively to stem the cycles of violence and repression. Through cooperation and solidarity, it is possible to build a peaceful and prosperous future for all communities in the region.
