In a commendable initiative aimed at improving the medical care conditions of the people of Maniema, the provincial government has delivered a large consignment of medicines and medical equipment to the Bitule health centre. Located 60 kilometres from Lubutu in the north of the province, this health facility will benefit from the essential supply of delivery beds, inpatient beds, mattresses, operating beds and laboratory equipment.
This action comes following an urgent appeal launched by the medical director of the health centre, Dr Muhasa Lunga, describing a critical situation in terms of availability of medicines and equipment needed to care for patients. This generous contribution from the provincial government is expected to help alleviate the shortage of resources, and thus facilitate the monitoring and treatment of patients.
Dr Muhasa Lunga appealed to sick people not to hesitate to go to the hospital to receive the necessary care. However, he also stressed the crucial need for an ambulance to ensure the rapid transport and transfer of patients to the health centre. This request highlights the importance of access to emergency health care, highlighting a vital need for the local community.
This initiative by the Maniema provincial government deserves to be commended for its essential contribution to improving health services in the region. It reflects the authorities’ commitment to supporting local health structures and ensuring equitable access to medical care for all citizens. Hopefully, other partners will join this effort by providing the necessary resources to further strengthen the province’s health system.
