Title: Results of the national and provincial legislative elections in the DRC 2024: Exemplary electoral transparency
The results of the recent national and provincial legislative elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which took place in the electoral districts of Masi-Manimba and Yakoma, were published with flawless transparency by the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) headed by Denis Kadima Kazadi.
As soon as the polls closed, the CENI set up a process for publishing provisional results, allowing the entire public to closely follow the evolution of the votes poll by poll. This stated desire for transparency was reinforced by the use of electronic transmission of results, a technological innovation that guarantees the integrity of the electoral process.
Denis Kadima Kazadi stressed the importance of this transparency, demonstrating that for the CENI, it is not just a slogan, but a real practice. The published results are available online on the CENI website, thus offering everyone the opportunity to verify the credibility of the electoral process.
The figures reveal significant turnout rates in both electoral districts. In Masi-Manimba, the turnout rate was 37.81%, while in Yakoma, it reached 54.41%. These figures demonstrate the commitment of voters and their willingness to actively participate in the democratic life of the country.
The election results also revealed changes in voter preferences, with candidates obtaining lower scores than in previous elections. This development reflects a real change in the Congolese political landscape, reflecting citizens’ desire to see new voices and new perspectives emerge.
In addition, the CENI had to deal with attempted cyber attacks aimed at disrupting the electoral process. Thanks to the vigilance of his teams and the effectiveness of the security measures put in place, all these attacks were countered, thus guaranteeing the integrity of the electoral data.
Finally, Denis Kadima Kazadi thanked all the actors involved in the organization of the elections, in particular the government for its financial and logistical support, the security forces for ensuring stability during the electoral process, as well as the schools and teachers who made their premises available for the polling stations.
In short, the results of the elections in the DRC in 2024 demonstrate an exemplary democratic approach, characterized by transparency, civic engagement and vigilance in the face of attempts at destabilizationThis electoral experience strengthens the credibility of the democratic process in the Democratic Republic of Congo and constitutes an important step towards the consolidation of democracy in the country.
