As the winter season approaches in Egypt, the Ministry of Health and Population is urging the population to take preventive measures to combat respiratory viruses, which tend to spread more between November and March. This period is particularly sensitive for individuals with chronic diseases and the elderly, who are most vulnerable to respiratory infections.
In a recent interview on Ahmed Moussa’s “Ala Massoulity” TV show, the official spokesperson for the Ministry, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, stressed the importance of following these recommendations to reduce the risks of diseases such as the common cold. He particularly stressed the importance of getting vaccinated against influenza and favoring well-ventilated places to limit the spread of viruses.
Abdel Ghaffar also warned against the emergence of new variants of the coronavirus globally, while emphasizing that ordinary influenza remains the most widespread disease in Egypt. He reassured about the Ministry’s ability to closely monitor the evolution of respiratory diseases and take the necessary measures if necessary.
While the World Health Organization maintains the global state of emergency related to the coronavirus, Abdel Ghaffar recommended avoiding crowded and confined places to limit the risks of contagion. He also reported on the significant investments made by the Egyptian state in the field of health, highlighting the presidential initiatives aimed at improving the health of citizens and ensuring continuous monitoring of this issue.
In this delicate period, it is essential for each of us to remain vigilant and follow the recommendations of the health authorities to protect ourselves and the most vulnerable people. Health is a precious asset that must be preserved, by adopting responsible and united behavior in the face of the health challenges that surround us.
