Climate of insecurity in Kisangani: Faced with the violence of armed bandits

Fatshimetrie recently reported a series of attacks by armed bandits in Kisangani (Tshopo), resulting in a tragic toll of three dead and several seriously injured in recent days. These acts of violence have spread terror and indignation within the local community, highlighting a growing climate of insecurity in the region.

The latest attack, which occurred on the night of Thursday to Friday, claimed the life of a 23-year-old young man, accompanied by his wife and child, at Kilometer Point 9 on the Yangambi road. The attackers, dressed in military uniform, fled after killing the victim and stealing his motorcycle, leaving behind a feeling of fear and vulnerability among the inhabitants.

The story of this tragedy unfortunately continued with the death of an 8-year-old child, fatally shot in the head during a new armed attack in the region. These events have deeply shocked the population, arousing anger and sadness at the brutality of these merciless attacks.

Faced with this growing climate of insecurity, local authorities, led by the Mayor of Kisangani, Delly Likunde, have taken measures to address this alarming situation. A meeting of the urban security committee was held to assess the actions to be taken to ensure the protection of citizens and restore order in the city.

Meanwhile, victims injured in these attacks have been taken care of, but the trauma and fear remain, leaving a sense of uncertainty about the safety of the residents of Kisangani.
