**A Hospital in Distress: Kamango’s Urgent Call for Help**
Four months have passed since the tragic fire that ravaged a large part of the facilities of the Kamango General Reference Hospital, located in the Beni territory, North Kivu. Despite the efforts of the medical team led by Dr. Junior Ngozi, the facility is struggling to provide a minimum service due to the critical lack of essential medical equipment.
The fire particularly affected the operating room, turning vital equipment such as the concentrator and the generator to ashes. These material losses have plunged the hospital into a crisis situation, making it difficult or even impossible to effectively care for patients.
Dr. Ngozi is therefore launching an urgent call for help, stressing the urgent need to replace the destroyed equipment. He explains that despite the team’s repair and reorganization efforts, the operation of the facility remains hampered by failing infrastructure and an unstable electricity network.
The main problem facing Kamango Hospital is the low capacity of the electricity grid, which is unable to support the growing energy needs to power vital equipment such as incubators or oxygen concentrators. This situation is forcing the hospital to resort to generators, generating additional costs and compromising the quality of care provided to patients.
Previously, the hospital was able to meet its energy needs through a solar installation, but today, this solution seems insufficient to cope with the emergency and major challenges facing the medical team.
While waiting for external support, Kamango Hospital is facing a real race against time to maintain its activity and ensure that patients are treated in dignified and secure conditions. The appeal launched by Dr. Ngozi resonates as a humanitarian emergency, calling for solidarity and mobilization to save this essential facility for the local community.
