Strengthening security in Masi-Manimba: Guaranteeing free and secure elections

For several days, an intensification of security measures has been observed in Masi-Manimba in preparation for the elections on December 15. The arrival of multiple waves of police and armed forces from the Democratic Republic of Congo in the territory demonstrates the importance given to securing the electoral process.

The administrator of the Masi-Manimba territory, Emery Kanguma, emphasizes that these deployments aim to ensure that the elections are held in optimal security conditions, after the incidents that occurred during previous elections. He calls on the population to remain calm, specifying that the police will only intervene in the event of attempts to sabotage the elections.

“In collaboration with the CENI, we have taken the decision to strengthen security during these elections. The police and military present are there to ensure the protection of the electoral process. It is essential that the population remains calm and exercise vigilance. The country has invested a lot of resources to ensure the smooth running of these elections. Those who seek to disrupt them will be met with the forces of law and order. I ask everyone not to let themselves be manipulated,” said Emery Kanguma.

With less than a week to go before the national and provincial legislative elections in Masi-Manimba and Yakoma, the electoral campaign is drawing to a close. Nearly 302 candidates are vying for the five seats in the national legislative elections, and 571 for the provincial elections in the Masi-Manimba constituency alone. These figures demonstrate the enthusiasm of citizens for the democratic process and the importance given to political representation at the national and local levels.

At a time when political stability is crucial for the development of the country, securing elections is of paramount importance. The presence of law enforcement in Masi-Manimba aims to guarantee the right of citizens to vote freely and safely, thereby ensuring the legitimacy and transparency of the electoral process. It is up to everyone to play their part in upholding democracy and contributing to building a better future for all.
